Cabildo Infantil / Childrens Congress About 5,000 children from the whole municipality of Copán Ruinas participate in this program in which they receive 10 workshops about a different theme each year (so far: childrens rights and the stucture of the city council, the environment, values). The results of these workshops (drawings, stories, poetry, charts, maps etc.) are put together in a handmade book along with a project proposal of something the children would like to change in their community. Each small village or neighbourhood sends an elected child to the yearly Childrens Congress where they receive workshops and share experiences with other children. The Conservation Project runs a field research station with exhibitions, guided tours, and environmental education in local schools to raise public awareness of the fragile environment of the tropical island of Utila. Estas comisiones de trabajo se forman en asambleas generales en forma voluntaria, de acuerdo a las preferencias de sus miembros, su duración es de dos años, en tiempos equiparado a la duración del Comité Directivo. The organization was created by a group of biologists and business owners who are dedicated to the conservation of the Cuero and Salado wildlifee refuge. Cuero and Salado is a manatee and wildlife sanctuary near La Ceiba. FUCSA works to integrate conservation and social economic development of the 86 families who live on the reserve.
